BROOKLYN BEGINNINGS

Where It Began

Suzette Spann Scarborough is Brooklyn born and raised, Bedford-Stuyvesant, to be exact, and the eldest of three children born to parents who migrated from South Carolina and Georgia.

Long before there were corporate titles, businesses, ministry assignments, or professional credentials, there were the formative lessons of family, faith, responsibility, and community.

Being the eldest brought its own early lessons in leadership: learning to be responsible, paying attention to the needs of others, and understanding that how you show up matters.

Brooklyn shaped her, too. Its people, culture, resilience, energy, and extraordinary mix of worlds helped form a woman who would eventually become equally comfortable in corporate boardrooms, church sanctuaries, community spaces, classrooms, restaurants, event venues, and destinations around the world.

Faith became personal early. At the age of nine, Suzette accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in Brooklyn at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, beginning a spiritual journey that would eventually become one of the defining threads running through her life.

Brooklyn remains more than where her story began. It is part of how she understands home, people, culture, community, and possibility.

LEADERSHIP & FORMATION

The Foundation

Before entrepreneurship, Suzette spent nearly three decades building a career in Corporate America across Human Resources and Legal and Regulatory Compliance.

Her professional journey included work within major global organizations including American Express, MasterCard, AIG, and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

These were environments where excellence required more than simply knowing the work. They required judgment, discretion, accountability, preparation, an understanding of people, the ability to navigate complexity, and the confidence to operate within organizations where standards mattered.

Those years became an important foundation for the leader and entrepreneur Suzette would later become. The disciplines she learned in Corporate America continue to influence how she approaches people, business, client experience, risk, strategy, systems, communication, and execution today.

Her education reflects that same intersection of people, leadership, law, and service. Suzette is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Industrial and Labor Relations, earned a Master of Divinity in Urban Ministry from New York Theological Seminary, completed her paralegal studies through Queens College and received certification as an Etiquette Consultant from The Swann School of Protocol.

The titles and organizations matter. But their greatest value may be in what they helped develop: discernment, discipline, leadership, and an enduring standard of excellence.

MINISTRY & FORMATION

Faith & Calling

Faith has been central to Suzette’s life since childhood. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of nine, beginning a journey that would eventually lead to more than twenty-five years of ministry leadership and service.

Her theological formation includes a Master of Divinity in Urban Ministry from New York Theological Seminary, but her understanding of ministry has been shaped just as profoundly through years of serving people.

Today, Suzette serves on the ministerial team at the historic First Baptist Church of Crown Heights in Brooklyn. Her ministry includes leadership in women’s ministry, the marketplace ministry, spiritual formation, special events, teaching, and other areas of congregational life and service.

She believes ministry extends well beyond the walls of a church building. Faith influences how she leads, how she conducts business, how she serves her community, how she treats people, and how she understands purpose.

For Suzette, faith is not simply one chapter of the story.

It is one of the threads running through all of them.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

The Entrepreneurial Chapter

Eventually, decades of corporate experience, creative instinct, professional expertise, and entrepreneurial vision converged.

Suzette formed Envisioned Events by Suzette in 2017 and later answered the call to full-time entrepreneurship. What began with events would grow into a collection of businesses reflecting different dimensions of her experience, interests, and expertise.

Today, she is the founder and CEO of three distinct businesses:

Envisioned Events by Suzette — wedding and event planning, design, production, and management.

Envisioned Travels by Suzette — thoughtfully designed travel experiences and customized journeys.

Etiquette Speaks — dining, social, business, and executive etiquette education for individuals, organizations, institutions, and communities.

Suzette is also a Certified Etiquette Consultant through The Swann School of Protocol, combining professional etiquette training with decades of real-world corporate experience in people, leadership, compliance, communication, and professional environments.

Though each business serves a different need, they share a common philosophy:

Thoughtfulness matters. Preparation matters. How people experience a moment matters. Excellence should never be accidental.

Entrepreneurship did not require Suzette to abandon everything that came before it.

It gave her a place to bring it all together.

SERVICE & COMMUNITY

Service Beyond Titles

Leadership for Suzette has never been defined solely by profession.

Service has also taken form through the communities Suzette has intentionally created and supported.

Through Girl, BREATHE!, an initiative born through Envisioned Events by Suzette, she created restorative experiences for women Founders, Presidents and CEOs. Spaces designed to give women accustomed to carrying responsibility for others an opportunity to pause, reset, reconnect with themselves and exhale.

The initiative reflects something Suzette believes deeply: achievement and responsibility should not require women to disappear from their own lives.

Her commitment to sisterhood and service also spans more than three decades through Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Her current service includes the Eastern Regional Chaplains Council, along with leadership roles in her local chapter and continuing to serve on committees around Scholarship, Policies & Procedures, and Membership; extending her commitment to faith, education, sound governance and community into another important part of her life.

Across these different spaces, the principle remains the same: leadership carries responsibility, and accomplishment means more when it creates opportunity, encouragement or impact for someone else.

BEYOND THE RESUME

Still Evolving

None of the titles alone tells the complete story.

Suzette is also a woman who values faith, family, friendship, culture, travel, laughter, learning, beauty, meaningful experiences, quiet moments, and the freedom to continue becoming.

Her life has included achievement and disappointment, beginnings and endings, transition, reinvention, growth, and the kind of perspective that only living can provide.

Each chapter has added depth to the next.

Evolution, for Suzette, does not mean rejecting who she has been. It means remaining open to who she is still becoming. She has embraced new assignments, new ideas, new places, new relationships, new lessons, and new possibilities.

She has learned that a life can be deeply established and still have room to expand.

The story is still moving. And so is she.

The life is accomplished. The story is still evolving.

The life is accomplished. The story is still evolving.

The life is accomplished. The story is still evolving.

There is no single title that completely defines Suzette Spann Scarborough.

This is not the story of a woman wearing many hats.

It is the story of one woman bringing the fullness of who she is to every place she is called to serve.
